Stratolaunch starts manufacturing Talon, a hypersonic plane for Mach 6 flights

Stratolaunch LLC is an American aerospace company, which started almost a decade ago in 2011, providing high-speed flight test services. Stratolaunch has started construction on a prototype hypersonic vehicle designed to launch from the world’s biggest airplane.

Stratolaunch’s Talon-A will be 28 feet (8.5 meters) long with a mass of 6,000 lbs. (2,700 kilograms) and will fly as fast as Mach 6, the company has said. “The vehicle is designed for use by the government, the Department of Defense, the commercial sector and academia, which will contract for payload capacity for space or Earth applications”, quoted by Draper, one of the Stratolaunch’s non-profit technical partners.
